BRITISH COLUMBIA
Cominco Ltd. reported net earnings of $159M for 1999 vs. a $23M loss for 1998. Improvement was credited to cost reduction, productivity increases, and better performance by the Trail smelter. The Red Dog mine in Alaska totaled 521 K-mt Zn-inconcentrate, and was the largest annual output ever from a zinc mine. It reportedly has the largest mineable zinc resource ever discovered.-wac
