The Minden Opera House in Minden, Neb., received a face-lift this year thanks to the collective efforts of the Kearney County community and Minden Exchange Bank & Trust Co.
The opera house renovation was the first major project undertaken by the Kearney County Community Foundation Board (KCCF), which includes Ray Van Norman, chairman of the Minden Exchange B&T, and Robert Raun, a bank director.
"The primary reasons for choosing the opera house are we are a typical small town, rural area striving for not only just an existence, but possibly a prosperous existence," said Van Norman. "We felt the opera house in the downtown area would provide more revenue, and also preserve some of ...
