Fishing Lake training is still `oil right' for some
FISHING LAKE -- Despite the drop in oil prices and resultant downturn in the oilpatch, the Fishing Lake Development Corporation is continuing with training programs centred around the Alberta oil and gas industry.
An apprenticeship program initiated this year has 30 students enrolled in trades, including machinists, welders, heavy duty mechanics and millwrights.
Corporation Manager Charles Iggulden said the students are in varying years of completion.
"We have everything from first year to fourth year students. Some started elsewhere and are continuing here. Some will eventually go to Vermilion College, Northern and Southern Alberta ...
