Objectives: To describe in detail the rationale for and placement of microvascular ports for the efficient delivery of radiolabeled cell preparations to conduct biodistribution studies in small animals. Methods: The Da Vinci Microport Vascular System is a closed injection route permitting its implantation 2 or more weeks prior to trafficking experiments without loss of patency. The port is internalized eliminating the risk for contamination and damage to the canula. The incision area is sterilized. The anaesthetized mouse is then taped (back side up) to the surgery board.
