Article: Supreme Court overrules district court ruling

The U.S. Supreme Court supported the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruling that: "There is a compelling interest in remedying racial discrimination in the Denver construction industry and that it has an important governmental interest in remedying discrimination." This action overrules the U.S. District ruling by Judge R. Matsch, in 2000, which struck down the Denver Minority Business Construction Contacting program.

The Supreme Court ruling in supporting the Appellate Court also said that, "The city proved that it needs an affirmative Action program to ensure the construction trades don't discriminate against women and people of color."
