Professionalism among health professional students has garnered greater attention in recent years. Several medical schools formally evaluate medical students on their professional behavior. An integral component of professionalism has to do with moral development. Why is training in moral development important for pharmacy students? Because students at higher levels of moral development may demonstrate an increased probability of adhering to their code of ethics and of providing a high level of patientfocused care.
