Health educators' assessment of the course content of a proposed death and dying education curriculum

The concept of death and dying is as old as the concept of birth. Unlike birth, which signifies the beginning of life and ushers in an additional member of the family, death and dying connote the termination of life as we know it and the process leading to it respectively. According to Leiper (1993) death and dying are removed from everyday experience in industrial societies and people are therefore unsure of their own roles and are confused by the reaction of others when death occurs.
