Bolivia Being Considered as Possible Location for GTL Plant

With its significant stranded gas reserves, serious attention is now being given to Bolivia as the possible site for a GTL plant.

Bechtel Corp. has recently completed a feasibility study for The Deane Group to determine the possibility of building a 10,000-50,000 b/d capacity GTL plant in Bolivia. However, before the project can proceed, there are some legislative issues that must be dealt with.

According to Bolivian law, all major projects (such as this one) must be openly tendered. Bolivia's Energy & Hydrocarbons Vice Ministry is currently seeking a way to modify its hydrocarbons law to allow construction of the proposed US$1.75 billion GTL plant.
