Looking ahead to government regulation and response in nuclear medicine

The new millennium may have arrived, but, from a government relations perspective, this is a new year with the same old problems. The practice of nuclear medicine depends on many things, but the two basic facts essential to the survival of nuclear medicine are that isotopes must be available and adequate payment must be received for diagnosis and treatment. Without the isotopes, the radiopharmaceuticals needed in common diagnostic and therapeutic procedures will not be available.
