Boat sales pick up with improving economy

Boat sales have increased in the past year as the economy improved, Dave Pretasky of American Marine said Thursday.

"They were flat for about 24 months" before that, said Pretasky, who started the boat dealership in 1984 and is still involved in running it.

Sales have increased in the past 12 months "because the overall economy and job growth are coming back," he said. "And low interest rates have helped significantly."
