Heinz Kramer has accomplished the impossible: he has produced an extremely well-written and comprehensive book on the dilemmas of modern Turkey. Kramer covers all topics ranging from the basic Kemalist ideology underlying the organization of the state, to the domestic and international challenges faced by Turkey.
