Lower your risk of diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is on the rise throughout America. In fact, its rate has tripled over the past 30 years. Diabetes can mean big problems for the 17 million Americans who have this disease, because it often leads to serious complications: heart disease, kidney disease that eventually can make dialysis necessary, eye problems and even blindness, amputations, and more.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) estimates that over 6 percent of all Americans have diabetes, yet nearly one-third of these people don't know it because they haven't been diagnosed. The problem of diabetes is even worse for certain groups, including African Americans.
