There is no such thing as bad bread pudding. As long as there's bread, cream and sugar, it all tastes pretty good to me. Some bread puddings are dreamy, some are sublime, some are. just ordinary, but I've never tasted one that was awful.
One of my fondest teen-age memories is meeting my first real boyfriend for coffee and bread pudding on Saturday afternoons at Leunig's Cafe on the main street of Burlington, Vt. I remember being almost delirious because I finally had a boyfriend, and one with such incredible twinkling blue eyes that I lost my breath every time I saw him.
