Ready-to-use Injectable neurotoxin for treatment of cervical dystonia

The FDA has approved botulinum toxin type B for the treatment of patients with cervical dystonia. The specific indication is to reduce the severity of abnormal head position and neck pain associated with the disorder. The product is a liquid formulation of a neurotoxin produced by the type B strain of Clostridium botulinum; the neurotoxin acts to produce flaccid paralysis. It joins the previously approved botulinum toxin type A product (see New Indications below), which is produced by the type A strain of the organism.
