Article: Biodiesel Questions Remain

In the Aug. 9 opinion column (p. 7), the National Biodiesel Board responded to American Trucking Associations' June testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. NBB criticized ATA's testimony, which focused primarily on the detriments of boutique fuels, including biodiesel fuel.

In an effort to more clearly define ATA's position on biodiesel, let me begin by stating that trucking does not oppose the use of alternative fuels such as biodiesel, if those fuels can deliver equivalent performance at a comparable price to petroleum diesel. At this time, the associations leadership believes that biodiesel falls short of this goal.
