Officers arrested; tied to No. Side criminal activity

An ongoing investigation by the Chicago Police Department turned up the arrest and charge of four of their own Tuesday morning alleging their ties to criminal activity in the Jefferson Park area.

The allegations stem to at least nine officers who engaged in the solicitation of money and gifts from residents in the Jackson Park area.

Steven G. Miller, James P. Petruzzi, Michael W. Simpson and William J. Tortoriello were all tenured officers with more than 20-years on the force and were charged with felonies ranging from theft, official misconduct and filing false police reports. They were all officers in the ...
