At least two genes linked to condition; no telling yet how many more are responsible
Geneva - Scientists are slowly piecing together the gene chain for atopic dermatitis. During the past year, two genes have been linked to the disease. Researchers suspect there are nearly half a dozen genes responsible for causing the condition.
"We know there are other genes involved and we hope to determine which ones they are in the near future," William Cookson, M.D., said at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology meeting.
