High penetration rate reduces cycle times
The underground mines of Scandinavia provide an excellent proving ground for some of the latest drilling equipment. Most of the ore bodies dip steeply, requiring some type of sublevel mining and a lot of drilling, and the ore is hard. Driving sublevels through granite, chromite, and magnetite requires skill and robust equipment with high availability.
