Plans to create new practitioner guidelines, education in works

LAS VEGAS-A new academia-industry coalition plans to create new guidelines for practitioners and will spearhead a major educational drive devoted to pain management.

The Companion Animal Pain Management Consortium made its debut at the Western Veterinary Conference here in February.

Consortium members include veterinary colleges at Colorado State University (CSU), University of Illinois (UI) and the University of Tennessee (UT) as well as Pfizer Animal Health. The consortium is open to all veterinary colleges and universities, officials add.
