Increasing the numbers of teachers of color in K-12 public schools

Recently, I attended a college of education graduation ceremony at a large university in the Pacific Northwest. Lined up facing the audience in front of the podium were all of those who had earned the Masters Degree in Teaching. As the audience watched, these 50 students stood in line to receive words of congratulations and a handshake from the associate dean and the chair of the department.
