No, no, no, no... yes!

Oh, no, no,no,no... I felt such disappointment and helplessness as I re-read Lois Hamlin's article on `horizontal violence' in last month's Journal. Disappointment because, sadly, I recognised so much of what Lois wrote about: the scapegoating, sabotaging, disinterest and discouragement that nurses are so good at inflicting on each other. And if you are honest, you will have to admit that you have seen it too. Again, in this issue, Jan Howells Johnson writes about the lack of support nurses show for each other.

Helplessness? Because I (and my NATN colleagues) could be perceived as the 'marginal nurse leaders' referred to in Lois Hamlin's article. We may be one of the oppressing groups. If ...
