SACRAMENTO, CALIF.-California Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger signed Senate Bill 1520 last month, banning the practice of force-feeding ducks and geese to engorge their livers for foie gras.
The animal activist-spurred law comes three months after American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) delegates voted to create a task force to study animal welfare as related to foie gras production. California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) officials previously opposed to the practice and now await AVMA's report.
