San Antonio-Process control trends in pulp and paper were on the table this spring at the Technical Association for the Pulp and Paper Industry/The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society Pulp and Paper Industries Division Process Control, Electrical and Information (phew!) conference.
Karel Cerny, supervisor of control systen-is engineering at Georgia-Pacific, spoke at some length about his organizations hopes for and disappointment in Foundation fieldbus (FF) technology use in its paper mills. Here are some of his comments:
