Mike, 49, a stocky rental property investor, was enjoying a weekend antique car auction with his sister Roberta, a nurse practitioner who was visiting from out of state. She sat beside him, listening to the sing-song of the auctioneer's voice. Glancing at her brother, she noticed his eyes were closed, his head was bowed in front of him, and he was softly snoring. Suddenly, he jerked his head up, gasping for breath. Admitting he frequently doesn't sleep well at night, Mike confessed to constant daytime sleepiness. Familiar with sleep disorders, Roberta knew the tell tale signs of sleep apnea and encouraged her brother to see his healthcare provider.
