Appropriate patients are those with good visual potential and who are between plano and +0.5 D
SALT LAKE CITY-Multifocal IOLs work well when they are implanted into the appropriate patients, according to Randall J. Olson, MD, who described how this type of lens works with his patients.
"The original premise of multifocality, the ability to accommodate near and distance vision in one lens, seemed like a dream when work began with the early defractive lenses about 10 years ago," said Dr. Olson, the John Moran presidential endowed professor of ophthalmology, director, John A. Moran Eye Center, and chair, department of ophthalmology, University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City.
