SANTA POD RACEWAY, England (Sept. 9-12) - With his final-round victory at Santa Pod Raceway, Andy Carter became the first person to win the FIA European Top Fuel Championship twice, having won it also in 2001. Carter used a 4.98 pass to take top qualifier honors. He then beat a red-lighting Smax Smith with a 5.14 in the opening round. Holland's Lex Joon used a 5.00 to beat Jöran Persåker's 5.21, and Norway's Thomas Nataas' 5.00 ousted Jon Webster's 5.05.
