Right Ventricular Infarction Complicating Inferior Myocardial Infarction Correlates with Higher TIMI Risk Scores and Increased In-Hospital Morbidity and Mortality

Right Ventricular Infarction (RVI) complicating inferior myocardial infarction (IMI) is associated with an excess in-hospital morbidity and mortality. We aimed to determine if in-hospital percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) benefited these patients.

Consecutive patients (n= 542) presenting to the coronary care unit with a 0.1 m V ST elevation in two contiguous inferior leads on the 12-lead CCO received fibronolytic therapy between February 1998-2002. All patients had a 12-lead ECG, 80-lead ECG (BSM) and cardiac enzymes taken at presentation.
