1. Introduction

How film and theatre operate as complex sign-systems thematizes my analysis. For that aim, it is necessary to identify their basic units and the rules that govern their interaction. The investigation is based on the premise that both film and theatre tell stories, in other words, have a narrative in their deep structure.
