Spokane physician Cheryle R. Hart and Mary Kay Grossman, a registered dietitian here, have co-authored a book, titled the "Insulin-Resistance Diet" that outlines a method for combating insulin resistance and achieving weight loss.
Insulin resistance is a hormone condition in which the body's cells don't use effectively insulin produced by the pancreas.
"Three out of four Americans have this, with or without weight problems," claims Hart, who has been practicing medicine since 1984 and is a specialist in medical weight management.
