Freshwater aquaculture resources have been managed and controlled under different property regimes in India. A few evidences are available in India when freshwater aquaculture resources (FARs) degraded under open access system are brought under a state or private or community management regime through appropriate changes in institutional arrangements and authority system (Marothia, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997 a, 2002).
