Pattern of Male, Female and Child Family and Contract Labour Use in Production of Fish in Cooch Behar District of West Bengal

A study was undertaken in Cooch-Behar, Sadar Block-1 of West Bengal with the following objectives: (1) to examine the cost of production and net return of different varieties of fishes, (2) to examine the pattern of participation of male, female and children family and contract labourers to the fish production system of Cooch Behar, (3) to examine the internal dynamics of the contract labour system in terms of reasons for variation in the participation of family and contractual men, women and child labourers in different size groups of fish farms and (4) to examine the effect of interlocking arrangements of the study area.
