Surveys were conducted in the year 2002-2003 to assess the energy and cost requirements for milk production in different commercial dairy farms in four locations, viz., Maharajpur, Imaliya, Pariyat and Mohaniya, around the Panagar block of Jabalpur district, representing the Kymore plateau and Satpura Hills zone of Madhya Pradesh. The locations for conducting the survey was selected at random without following any statistical method as there are enough number of commercial dairy farms to get a good comprehensive data on the different activities in milk production.
