UWB Possibilities
MY FIRST INCLINATION, in reading Jack Browne's "Viewpoint: Probing the Possibilities of UWB" in the December 7 edition of the Wireless Systems Design newsletter, was to ask myself, "Who just bought him?" Probably Time Domain, I thought, having seen their droppings over the years.
My second thought was to write. In the piece, Jack Browne wrote that a tremendous amount of bandwidth is occupied but it allows a "generous amount of information to be carried" as well. Let's look at the situation. The math is simple. We are given 7 GHz of bandwidth. We want our communication system to have, say, at least 60 dB of discrimination against other systems operating within the band. ...
