Article: New residence hall construction set

The demolition of one of the campus' oldest buildings and construction beginning on a new residence hall will be among the most visible changes at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2005.

Reuter Hall, its oldest, will come down in March to make way for a 360-bed, suite-style building.

The undertaking is part of UW-L's exterior master plan. Matt Lewis, director of campus planning and facilities management, said the university must put together a master plan every biennium that addresses space issues.

The need for more residence and academic halls has been in the plans for several years, lie said, as UW-L academic programs and enrollment have grown since the 1970s.
