The Open Modular Architecture Control (OMAQ/STEP-NC consortium group of the ARC Advisory Group (Dedham, MA) has gained acceptance for the STEP-NC (Standard for Exchange of the Product Model Data-Numerical Control) AP 238 specification for CNC-driven machine features.
Proof of the standard's support is in an "art-to-part" scenario that involves the fabrication of a machine part from design concept (CAD) through toolpath definition (CAM) to CNC and machine tool solely based on the STEP-NC AP 203 & 238 specifications, according to ARC Advisory Group. A demonstration is planned to illustrate this scenario with four different CAD/CAM systems ...
