Expanded services and a new look for Secondary Market Network

Are community banks committed to the secondary market for the long haul? Or will portfolio retention remain the key mortgage-lending strategy with only opportunistic selling when the interest rate environment is right?

America's Community Bankers 2000 Real Estate Lending Survey found that about half, or 49 percent, of community banks sell loans in the secondary market, and that in the rising interest rate market of 2000, 80 percent of loan production was retained in portfolio.
