Three years ago, things did not look good for Yorkaire Mechanical Systems.
Caterpillar Inc., one of the company's largest customers at the time, closed its 1.5 million-square-foot manufacturing plant in York County and stopped doing business with Yorkaire.
Industrial mechanical contractors that started springing up in the 1980s and early 1990s were gaining ground on Yorkaire. Employee morale was low because the workers didn't know where the York County company was headed.
