Aberdeen Acres near Winchester and Pet's Vacationland near Hagerstown have a combined boarding capacity for 350 dogs, but according to owner Russ Ebersole, 10% of the dogs don't spend the night; thirty to forty dogs come just for day care, romping in the grass together while their owners are working to buy more dog treats.
Other Quad-state area kennels are also offering doggie day care. At the Widow's Mite Farm Kennels, kennel manager Robin Leeney says they average seven day care dogs daily, with three canines that come every day. At Fairview Kennels, also near Hagerstown, owner, Sharon Lacy welcomes two day care regulars daily with three others visiting several days a week.
