Not only is Moses Maimonides considered somewhat of a pioneer in inter-religious dialogue, but this year is also the 800th anniversary of his death.
So the 12th-century Jewish scholar and philosopher was the ideal subject to inaugurate the Joel E. Smilow Annual Lecture Series on Renowned Jewish Scholars last week at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in the District.
The talk on Wednesday of last week by Arthur Hyman, dean of Yeshiva University's Bernard Revel Graduate School, was part of the 3-year-old center's goal to foster understanding among people of diverse faiths.
