Article: $20 Million Museum of the Shenandoah Valley on Display

After eight years of planning, fundraising, designing, re-engineering and construction, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) opened on April 3.

Located on the grounds of the Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens in Winchester, the $20 million, 50,000-square-foot, three-story museum showcases three centuries of history, art and culture in the Shenandoah Valley.

The museum's history dates back to the 1950s when Julian Wood Glass Jr., a descendant of Winchester founder Col. James Wood, acquired and renovated the Glen Burnie home on Amherst Street, completely furnishing it with decorative arts.
