CPS recruits foreign tech teachers

The Chicago Public School (CPS) is now recruiting technology teachers from around the world to meet shortages caused by the economic boom that led competent tech tutors to join the corporate world.

The shortage was first noticed in 1995 when CPS only recruited technology teachers from within the Chicagoland area.

The problem became apparent when "the corporate world started snatching them away with higher pay and benefits," said CPS's Deputy Technology Officer, Christopher Grant.

Speaking during the 23rd Black Data Processing Associates Conference this weekend, Grant said the recruitment was immediately extended to all 50 states.
