ABSTRACT
The sexual experiences of youth are not well-understood. Because youth are disproportionately vulnerable to the negative consequences of sexual activity, like sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy, sexual activity is often characterized as a risk-taking behavior; however, sexual experimentation and sexual activity may be a part of normal and healthy youth social and emotional development.
