The 319-acre Cranbrook Educational Community celebrated its centennial in 2004. As the Bloomfield Hills, Mich., campus approached the 100-year mark, it embarked on a project to improve its life safety systems.

The first networked, addressable fire detection system was installed in the Granbrook dorms in the 1980s. The system was designed by Siemens Fire Safety, which was also chosen to help the campus modernize its life safety systems as the centennial approached.
