Article: Update on Coast Guard Reserve equipment

Last December, as American families prepared for the holidays, Coast Guard Reservists left their homes and loved ones for the Arabian Gulf region, where they protected U.S. vessels in the wake of the attack on the destroyer USS Cole.

The deployment of detachments from two of the Coast Guard's six Port Security Units (PSUs) highlighted a special capability of the nation's smallest armed service - the ability to deliver waterside force protection at both ends of the sea lines of communication.
