Richard D. Hanft, 75, retired founding director of Lake Federal Savings and Loan Association of Hammond, died Aug. 10. He helped form the financial institution in 1957 and served as a director until his retirement in 2000. A veteran of World War II, Hanft was active with the Indiana Bankers Association.
William Thomas Hilderbrand, 64, chairman of the board and chief executive officer
of Peoples Trust Company, Linton, and vice chairman of the board and executive vice president of Stone City Bank, Bedford, died Sept. 17. He was also a member of the board of the Indiana Bankers Association.
