PREAMBLE

The vitality of any discipline depends on the vigor of its community of scholars and practitioners and their dedication to the advancement of knowledge. The American Society for Engineering Education has promoted and supported a community of scholars and practitioners for engineering education since 1893 when a small group of visionary engineers laid the foundations for the society. Soon thereafter, this rapidly growing community launched a monthly periodical "devoted to technical education." Called the Bulletin, it was the precursor to today's Journal of Engineering Education.
