GI Appreciates Value of VFW's Voice

After serving in Iraq, this young veteran plans to join the vets organization that helped her as a teen.

When Glenda Bryson graduated from high school in Riverside, Calif., in 1997, she wanted nothing more than to get a college education. Although she graduated in the top 10% of her class, her chances of attending a university were slim.

Her father died from cancer when Bryson was only 13, and her mother didn't have the money for her daughter's higher education.

"I saw a poster for the $40,000 Army College Fund and decided I would talk to a recruiter," said Bryson, now 25. "The recruiter was honest with me and didn't blow any smoke."
