Article: Environmental programs lose funding at WVU

MORGANTOWN - Two federal programs that operate out of West Virginia University and employ 35 to 40 people were not included in the FY 2007 federal appropriations bill.

The National Small Flows Clearinghouse (NSFC) and the National Environmental Training Center for Small Communities (NETCSC), both programs of WVU's National Environmental Services Center (NESC), rely on annual funding from the federal Environmental Protection Agency to foster clean and sustainable economic development.

"What we know is that funding for those two programs was not included in the appropriations bill from Interior and Environment that was passed a couple weeks ago," said NETCSC Director John Hoornbeek.
