Restriction fragment polymorphism (RFLP) analysis or DNA fingerprinting is a powerful technique with many applications in genetics and forensic science (Bunk 2000; Strachan & Read 1999). Basic laboratory techniques involved in RFLP analysis, such as restriction enzyme digestion of DNA and agarose gel electrophoresis, are important laboratory techniques for undergraduate biology majors to learn.
