Article: Trite Fishing; David Duchovny's directorial debut is one cliche after another.

"Boner" sounds like the French word "bonheur," which means "happiness "which sounds like "penis" if you stress the second syllable.

That's actually the best scene in David Duchovny's embarrassing debut as a movie writer/director, in which a smartass 12-year-old boy (Anton Yelchin) makes fun of his clueless French teacher. The scene works because it feels like something a bright New York City kid would really do.

That's as true to life as this sappy childhood drama gets. Most of the time the film plays as if Duchovny won a contest to pack the most cliches into 95 minutes. Count 'em:
